Where are they now?
“When I was 20, I wanted to change the world; at 30, I wanted to change my country; at 60, I realized I wanted only to change myself”
I’ve chosen to inaugurate my column from the words that the Late Senator Raul Roco once said. With my primary objective of contributing to the effort of enlightening our fellow youth, the most important sector of our society.
“Riko an pilipinas pero nagkukuri an katawhang Pilipino” A short, simple but catchy and meaningful phrase that made the lives of many miserable. It has brought economic hardship, sorrows, futile dreams and broken families. It is the primary bait made by the members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), New Peoples Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front (NDF) in their deceptive recruitment of people from all sectors of our society.
The CPP-NPA-NDF had mastered the Art of Deception. It is evident in all their propaganda aimed of poisoning the minds of the Filipino people. From recruitment of minors, extortion activities, economic sabotage, are just but few of their evil acts that made the life of common ‘pinoys’ suffer from poverty. They denounce poverty in one side, but have made many lives in peril all in pursuit of their ‘wicked masterplan’ of bringing the nation’s economy doomed. For in almost all nations that communism reign in terror, it is the economy that suffered first and foremost.
The students play a vital role in the communist’s goal of overthrowing the democratic government through a bloody revolution as espoused by Mao Tse Tung. Their intellect, vigor and idealism were proven effective in the recruitment of peasants in the countryside. Roberto “Bobby” Garcia, in his book ‘To Suffer Thy Comrades”, defined the characteristics that made our youth fell to the trap of joining the movement that in the end made them all regretful. He said that; “The incendiary mix of youthful rebellion, intellectual curiosity, and the reality of social evil made revolution such an attractive proposition”. Likewise, being a former member of the CPP-NPA-NDF, he is one of the numerous ‘living witnesses’ of the carnage perpetrated by the Communists Terrorist Movement, Where lives of thousands were wasted by the purging activities of the Communists as ordered by its founder and chairman, JOSE MARIA SISON. The OPLAN MISSING LINK, OPLAN OLYMPIA, KAMPANYANG KAHOS were just a few of the discovered purging operations perpetrated by the movement. The latest of which is the recently uncovered OPLAN ANTI-VD in Eastern Visayas. The killing fields in the hinterlands of Inopacan, Leyte that exposed an estimated hundreds of leyteños summary killed by the Communists. The unfortunate victims were arrested, hogtied, beaten, tortured, and brutally murdered by their NPA captors according to the statement of the witnesses. A horrible, bloody crime concealed by the Communists for two decades. And still being denied and covered up to now. Did you ever wonder how many students were executed? Might be better to ask the Communists to account the names of their victims!
The victims are crying for justice. For those responsible to the mass killings be held accountable for their barbaric, satanic actions. In the recent mass demonstration at Baybay, Leyte, the relatives of the victims of the Communist’s butchery are shouting and hoping that justice be served! And where are the so-called Human Rights Advocates both local and international? Why there’s seems a deafening silence on their organizations? Why no denunciation whatsoever? Your guess is as good as mine.
The triumvirate of the CPP-NPA-NDF has made the lives of a lot of students miserable, all in the guise of serving the masses. The deceptive recruitment all started in an ‘Orientation’. It is the initial indoctrination phase that a would-be recruit undergoes. From a simple student who dreamed of finishing a degree, a would-be pride of his/her parents that sacrificed a lot to bring him/her to school, comes a hard-fist, eyes raging in anger, shouting to the limits of his/her voice, verbally criticizing all things except their deceptive organization!
In their credo, ‘Simple Life, Ardent Struggle”, these students believed and left the confines of their academic institutions to join the armed struggle. And where are they now?
